I’m looking for all my cosmetic solutions for chipped and stained teeth.
Ben
Dear Ben,
Cosmetic Solution Number One
There are several great solutions available to you. Let’s start with the least expensive. First, you can get your teeth whitened. This is a simple, inexpensive procedure which can do wonders for your teeth. Any dentist can do it, so you don’t necessarily need a cosmetic dentist.
Before Dental Bonding
After Dental Bonding
For your chipped tooth, tooth bonding is the traditional repair. This, however, does require some cosmetic experience. It’s done freehand so, especially if it’s a front tooth, you’ll want an expert cosmetic dentist.
If you go this route, you’ll want to make sure you get the teeth whitening done before the bonding. The color of the bonding can’t be changed once it’s done. If you want it to match the white color of your teeth, be sure they’re the level of whiteness you need before you have the bonding created.
Cosmetic Solution Number Two
Porcelain veneers will solve both problems at once, the chip and color change, but it’s much more expensive of a procedure. The reason for that is this procedure can do much more than fix a simple chip and color issue. It can change absolutely anything about your smile— the shape, the size, the color, even the character of your teeth.
It can give you a complete, stunning smile makeover. The biggest issue is you need an expert cosmetic dentist to provide it for you. This is one of those cases where you truly get what you pay for.
Finding an Expert Cosmetic Dentist
If this is the procedure you decide on, you’ll want to do it right. Go to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry website (aacd.com). Look for an accredited dentist in a reasonable distance from you. These are the best cosmetic dentists in the world. You want an accredited or an accredited fellow, not just a member. This will make all the difference in the world for your smile.
This blog is brought to you La Jolla Cosmetic dentist Dr. Stephen Doan.
